Dental Implants

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are pieces placed where the natural tooth roots were previously located. These pieces are inserted to hold a prosthetic tooth as a replacement for the natural tooth. Implants are made of pure titanium and are designed to replace single teeth, bridges, or even a full set of teeth. David Madrid is a dental clinic in Valencia with extensive experience in this type of treatment, ensuring complete patient satisfaction.

Types of dental implants

At Clínica Dental David Madrid, we offer different types of dental implants tailored to each patient.

Conventional implants

They are used in patients who have sufficient bone volume in the upper or lower jaw to replace the root of a missing tooth.

They are indicated for:

  • The loss of one or several teeth.
  • Patients with good bone support.

Zygomatic implants

This type of implant is the solution for patients with severe bone loss in the upper jaw that prevents the placement of conventional implants.

They are indicated for:

  • Patients with significant bone resorption.
  • People who have worn removable dentures for years.

We answer your questions

Dental implantology is a minor surgery through which dental implants are placed. It involves making an incision where the dental implant will be inserted after the natural tooth is extracted. This is a short procedure that takes place directly at the clinic. Local anesthesia is used, avoiding the need for general anesthesia.

Dental implants can be placed on the same day as the tooth extraction, in which case we refer to them as immediate implants. This is typically done for single-rooted teeth. If the tooth has two or three roots, it is usually recommended to wait a month and a half to two months for the bone to heal before placing the dental implant, which is known as delayed implants.

There are several types of dental prostheses, depending on the number of dental implants placed:

  • Single Dental Implant: This is the technique of choice for replacing a single tooth. With this technique, the original tooth can be replaced without affecting the neighboring teeth. It helps maintain the structure of the mouth since, by having the same dimensions as the original tooth, it helps preserve the soft tissues, and the jawbone remains unaffected.
  • Bridge on Dental Implants: This involves replacing at least two adjacent teeth with dental implants without relying on the neighboring teeth.
  • Fixed Rehabilitation: This consists of replacing one or both dental arches with dental implants, avoiding the use of traditional dentures. Dental implants allow for more effective prostheses compared to traditional dentures. This type of prosthesis enables the design of fully functional and aesthetic arches, mimicking natural teeth. For this type of prosthesis, 4, 5, or 6 dental implants may be required depending on the individual patient. Each case must be studied individually.
  • Overdentures: This is an excellent option for patients with very little bone. This technique allows the entire arch to be supported by only 4 implants, recovering masticatory function and supporting soft tissues like the cheeks and lips, giving a more youthful appearance. This type of prosthesis is removable, making it easier to clean since it can be removed from the mouth for cleaning.

There are multiple advantages to this type of treatment. Some of the main advantages include:

  • The primary advantage of dental implants is that they restore function, aesthetics, and oral health in patients who have lost their teeth.
  • The procedure is performed at the clinic with local anesthesia.
  • The speed of the procedure is notable, as it is a short-duration intervention.
  • With dental implants, we can achieve the ideal position of the teeth, creating the smile each patient desires.
  • At David Madrid, a dental clinic in Valencia, we use high-quality materials to ensure flawless results.
  • Dental implants allow us to design more durable, comfortable, effective, and aesthetic prostheses compared to traditional dentures.
